How do you sum up in a few words the depth and breadth of a person's life? Words so often fail us. Steve was so full of life. He had a twinkle of mischief in his eyes. He was quiet but you always knew his mind was thinking, always thinking about the next project he would undertake. He was brilliant and resourceful. He did not know the meaning of the word quit. Even when his body began to fail him, he would not give up. Steve built a hot rod while he was in high school. He built his own house in his early 20's. He was a Master Electrician and had his own business. To those who didn't know Steve, he could look a bit intimidating. In reality, he was a gentle giant. He would wrap those arms around you and give you a bear hug. After he got sick and was put on dialysis, he treasured his life even more. I think Steve knew his time on earth would be shorter than any of us could imagine. He faced so many obstacles, but he faced them with a grace and steadfastness. He lived every day as full as his failing body would allow. He was generous and kind. He was imaginative and so very talented. He brought joy to the lives of those who knew him. We were not ready for him to go-it was too soon. We ache for the emptiness we feel at his loss. We do rejoice that he is free from this earthly body and free from the pain that had become his daily reality. We rejoice that he is in the arms of our loving Savior. We will be together again someday.
